The obligation to receive is here: what now lands in your inbox

Since 1 January 2025 every domestic company must be able to receive e-invoices – and your consent is no longer required: suppliers may switch to e-invoicing without asking. In practice this is where the work in the inbox only begins, because an XRechnung is a plain XML file – not readable by people without software.

For property managers and every company with many suppliers, this means a mixed intake of paper scans, PDFs, hybrid formats such as ZUGFeRD and pure XML invoices – running in parallel for years. What has proven itself is a process that treats every format the same: making each invoice visible (XML automatically becomes a readable PDF), checking it formally and assigning it to the right case. Then it makes no difference to the person handling the invoice which route the invoice arrived by.
